A coalition of parents, childcare providers, legal advocates from Georgetown Law School, and advocacy groups — like the National Women’s Law Center, ChildCare Aware, and Moms Rising — are starting a campaign to get D.C. on a pathway toward universal childcare coverage. As of now, childcare is too expensive for most parents and we are organizing to change that.
We have surveyed more than 600 parents in Washington, D.C. The general consensus is that the childcare system in our city is broken.
Now, we are taking our fight to the D.C. Council – to encourage our elected officials to enact childcare policies that allow our children and families to thrive.
